Pour Some Sugar On Me

I know I missed last week but here is my Foodie Friday tip!

No I dont have some weird fetish of being covered with sugar but I LOVED this song growing up and it went so well with what I wanted to talk about that I figured why not. So I grew up with a couple of things that I thought were totally normal..

1: keeping butter in the cupboards...totally thought everyone did this. It was not until I was a junior in high school that any of my friends commented on how that was strange and it was not until I got married and went to my in-laws house I have never seen anyone keep it in their fridge.

2: I totally grew up thinking that the only way you could mix those frozen Minute Maid Lemonade drinks was to use Diet Spite. I had never had/seen anyone use water and therefore I still now refuse to use water it is just plain nasty that way.

3: brown sugar is stored in the fridge. Yes this kind
Until I moved out of my crazy apartment my sophomore year of college (yes I really had a crazy roommate if you know me you know who I am talking about) and in with my cousin did I see someone keep it in like the cupboard or a jar on the counter.  The secret to having fresh brown sugar with no dry, crusty lumps is to keep it in the fridge. I have always done this and will continue its the best kept secret out there! So the next time you are trying to be all domestic and bake something that involves brown sugar store it in your fridge you'll be glad you did!

Up, Up and Away

Late at night (7:30) after Bubba is put to sleep you can find me surfing the web for any and everything. That usually always includes Pinterest.  I happened to find some ridicoulsy cute picture ideas on there and decided I had to do them now that Bubba is a little older and can do all sorts of fun tricks. Looking back and editing these I realize how lucky I am to be where I am.  I love my little family more than anything!! Here are just a couple of our fun filled weekend! Happy 6 months Bubba, can't wait for the next 6...and many, many more!

so tired from all the pictures

The Light...

We are finally seeing the light at the end of this long, painful, ridiculous tunnel.  We have seen the Lord bless us time after time this week.  We have some exciting things coming up in the next couple of weeks.  Right now our place is littered with moving boxes.  The plan was to move down to St. George for a little bit after the fourth but... we are (fingers crossed) not moving to St. George after the forth and instead to our permanent next stop in life.  We know that we are moving in the right direction and feel that the next step and where we are supposed to be as a family is all coming quick.

As we took some fun family pictures today, mainly just of Ty lol I couldn't help but be filled with such gratitude for my Heavenly Father.  I am so glad that he has a plan for us and that I have a firm knowledge that as long as we follow it we will be completely set.  So this week I have a TON of stuff to get done before me move out of Utah County (hopefully never to return, other than visits to Jakes parents).

The best part about this next week is that it is the only week left before my family comes up! We will be seeing the Beach Boys (hope they don't die on stage), going to the Rodeo, family pictures and a whole week of the people I love most in this life outside of Jake and Ty.  There is this amazing peace that has come and I never want it to leave!

6 Months

I can't believe T is already 6 months old. This time has just flown by. I will never forget the first time I held him, with his big blue eyes wide open, and silent state (He seriously never cried) my heart was overcome with the knowledge he was mine. When I think back on that day in December I remember Jake and I sitting together as they wheeled T in. As we all sat there T just looked at us from his little container hiccuping away and I knew it was a moment I would cherish forever.

T thank you for coming to our family. Thank you for being such a sweet baby. We love you more than we could ever tell you. You are the best thing that has happened to us. We have a lot of fun and exciting adventures coming up and I'm so glad we get to spend them with you. Love you Bubba, you warm my heart and fill me with pure joy and happiness.

Lazy Days

Yesterday was my favorite type of day. The one where Bubbas and I lounge around in our pjs all day. We cuddled to all his shows (4 episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was all I could take) and then we watched my shows like Pregnant in Heels, Tia and Tamera, and Oprah's Next Chapter with 50 cent which happened to be completely fascinating!! When I hear his music it always takes me back to my younger days when I pretended to be hip and way into hip hop.

As I laid their with Ty watching tv and tickling his side I thought about how amazing it is to be at home with him. We ha a lot of things to overcome to get him here and then to have him here now but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love those days when I can sit there and love him and know win complete assurance that he knows he's loved and that he loves me top. Being a mother is the biggest blessing I didn't know I needed.

So as we go run all the errands I was supposed to run yesterday I'm going to continue to smile and give him kisses and thank God that he was sent to me.

On a side note I am so excited to see my family in 2 weeks that I have been dressing Bubba in camo everyday so that he can get ready for papa! I think that's all my dad would wear if he has the choice...camo.

Ps I've decided that now I must bend down to take a picture...hello weirdo with bad posture.

Dad's

Yesterday was an amazing day, with just a little bit of bitter/sweetness to it.  This was the first Father's day that I haven't spent with my Amazing Dad, the first Father's day we spent with Jake's wonderful Dad, and the Big one Jake's first Father's day!

I realized yesterday that this holiday was a big one for newbie parents like Jake and myself.  Once you become a parent or in this case a DAD you are never not one.

I'm so grateful to the wonderful man who helped show and teach this man what it means to be a dad.
Thank you Jake for everything you do for bubba. You get him to laugh more than anyone else, sometimes it makes me angry but mostly I think its sweet.  I love that he looks exactly like you.  People often call him mini-jake and I hope he becomes more like you as he gets older. I know that he will be a wonderful father and husband if thats true.  I was so excited when I found out we were having a boy because it meant you got to have a little buddy.  Besides seeing you with little bubbas I love watching you, bubba and your dad.  It is so incredibly special to see 3 generations of Dallin boys. What an amazing and incredibly special thing.

Also a big Thank you to my wonderful and sweet Dad who lovingly showed me what to expect in a husband/future father.  He always made me feel that I was special and great at everything even when we both know I wasn't (me playing softball ring any bells?).  Thank you Dad for taking time off work for every single one of my water-polo games all 4 years of high school.  Thank you for showing me how a man is supposed to treat his loved ones.  Thank you for inspiring me to achieve what I love most in life.  Thank you for all the funny things you've done/said, like texting me boyfriend pretending to be me (sorry I didn't speak to you for a week...that was dramatic of me); asking me at 20 when I was going to get married because you were  tired of paying for me (even though I know that wasn't really true), and for telling me to just punch the girls in high school that I was having a problem with (even though we both know I probably would have died).  I love watching you interact with Ty. I am so grateful that he has you as an example to look up to.

Happy Fathers Day to all the wonderful Dad's out there!

Viva La Mexico

I think that it is a completely proven fact that when you get prego you become obsessed with food.  From worrying about what you are eating to those crazy, obsessive cravings.  What is is little known fact is that that food obsession continues. Darn those woman hormones.  They make it completely difficult to worry about losing weight.  Well considering we have a family picture July 2, Jake and I decided it was time to do something about our excess weight.  So for the last week and half- 2 weeks we have been running together as a family and watching what we eat.  Lucky for us the results have been amazing! J down 6 pounds, me down 4.

So as we continue our path to rocking bods, I have caught the foodie bug.  I have always loved to cook. Not be a chef (that requires making your own recipes) I just like to follow what someone else has done and put a twist on it.  They are all fairly low in calories, which helps when you are trying to lose as many as possible to ear your reward. (Yes I did bribe Jake and myself with little prizes when we hit weight loss goals).

Foodie Friday

Grilled Cheese and Corn

1st: get all your ingredients
-Tortillas
-Cheese
-Limes
-Corn on the Cob

2nd: Warm Tortillas
-We bought the ones that you have to heat up from Costco but the ones already done are a great option as well

3rd: Flavoring
-Lightly spread your favorite cheese over the tortilla
-Once you have a thin layer of cheese sprinkle garlic salt over the top
(We love garlic salt so there is always enough to make a vampire die but any different flavorings would work in this, choose the ones that you like)
-I also added some cilantro so it had a nice little flavor to it

4th: Plates
-Use a small sheet of foil to make a little plate like above so that you get the grill flavor without getting the grill gross with sticky cheese

5th: Corn
-Get 2 pieces of foil for your corn.
-Lightly melt better and spread it on your corn
-Wrap up the buttered corn and place it on the grill

6th: Cook Time
-After placing the corn on the grill place the tortillas on the grill as well
(Ours took less than 12 minutes to cook but just go till the corn is hot and the cheese is all melted on your tortillas)

7th: Pull Off
-When you pull everything off the grill it'll look like this
-This is when I lightly salt and pepper the corn and tortillas

9th: Dressing
-I added a little salsa, avocado, and sour cream to mine
-Squeeze the lime over your corn.  I know it sounds odd but seriously it is the best thing ever! I squeeze it each time I turn it, J does it once at the beginning.

Hopefully this is an easy, yummy dinner for you, your hubby or whoever! Happy eating!

Boys Will Be Boys

After feeding Bubba dinner I rolled him in to where J was so that he could watch him while I cleaned up. I came in to find Bubba fascinated with sports center (go Thunder)! He had his foot resting on his arm rest and was lazily drinking his juice. It brought a smile to my face watching the 2 of them watch the NBA finals. It brought back memories of me watching games with my dad and I realized there would be tons of pictures just like this as he grows up and continues to watch sports with his dad. (speaking of my dad we made Bubba try on this Thor hat for Papa! So funny)! It warmed my heart and I love these special moments that remind me how blessed I am to have my little family!

Exhausting

Apparently swimming in the lazy river, splashing in the kiddy pool, and sitting letting the waves hit your body is super exhausting because this is how bubba looked after we left 7 peaks this morning. Needless to say we had a blast and can't wait to use our pass all season! It makes it even more fun that we have friends to splash and play with!! Thanks Loomis family!

Childhood

Spring Cleaning.  It is a word that I love and dread at the same time.  It has now fully hit me with a furry that has never been seen in this household.  I am going through everything and I mean everything that we have, because when that job offers comes (anytime now would be appreciated) I am not hauling a bunch of crap to another state.

Today while going through Jake's "childhood" box I came across this amazing keeper.  It gave me an extremely rare look into my husbands childhood.  Plus studying to be an El Ed teacher this was like a double bonus because I know what I would have done had I been his teacher when I read these lovely jewels.  After hysterically laughing together I figured I should share my 2 favorite poems.

Self Portrait by Jacob
My face is like stars.  My hands are like a desert.  My arms are like white silk.
My hair is like wires.  My heart holds happiness.  That is red like a sunburn.
I live in gloves, and eat fingernails.

If I Were In Charge Of The World by Jacob
If I were in charge of the world I'd cancel school, shots, jumproping, drafting for sports, and also gymsocks.
If I were in charge of the world there'd be a toy store for each kid, 100 sporting good stores, and movie theaters for each kid.  If I were in charge of the world you wouldn't have homework, you wouldn't have jobs, brats, killers, robers, murders, or stealers.  You wouldn't even have girlfriends.
If I were in charge of the world a chocolate milkshake would be a very famous fruuit.

Hope those made you laugh, especially the gymsocks and girlfriends!

Arrivals

Someone finally decided to make themselves at home and show up...Bubbas 1st tooth! Thank heavens because these last 2 days my sweet always smily baby was replaced with a cranky always fussing baby. I seriously don't know how moms of fussy babies do it. Hats off to you because I was insane with my 2 days. Luckily Bubbas is back to normal.

I am so excited for his little tooth to be finally here because it means he's getting ready to start to eat a little chunkier food coming up. But party of me is sad. My sweet baby is growing faster than I ever wouldve imagined. So tonight I'm just going to fudge a little on bedtime and cuddle him instead.

Ps please excuse my nasty chipped nail polish it's on my to do list after bedtime.
